Street Feast Dalston
Dalston Yard Hartwell Street E8 3DU
When I was eating lunch at “Bonneville” in Hackney, the host Edina told me about this happening little festival on Fridays in Dalston. I wasn’t sure what to expect, and on that particular Friday visit, it was cold and rainy (as it is in London in August) and I was not in a real mood for something like this. But I was pretty blown away by the warm homemade fire “places” dotted about the half open air emporium, made entirely with recycled containers.
It was literally a little indie street food party smack in the middle of Dalston. Long communal tables are thrown about the rooms and if you get there early you can grab some seats and sit by the fire.
B.O.B.’s Lobster had a little stall, with incredibly delicious lobster and crab rolls spiked with paprika and served on a buttered toasted bun, an upgraded Maine classic.
Breddos Tacos also had a little stall with mini pizza style tacos topped with beets and chili and avocado with aubergine. Fresh, clean, and spicy. I also tried amazing indian mini pizzas by Rola Wala (“twisted indian street food”) which had the softest juiciest chicken ever, served with little bowls of coriander and seeds. Delicious Cocktails by Rotary Cocktail Bar and a cool selection of unique wines by Vinn Goute (Boom Boom from Washington state was very tasty).
All in all, a great way to spend your Friday night. But watch out- its not cheap! Open every Friday and Saturday from 5pm to midnight until September 27th.
